. This is a group of ranches in Dimmit & Zavala Counties (over 10,000 acres total) that are run from a centralized lodge. Some of the ranches are low fenced, some are high fenced. Request the type you want if you care about such things. The lodge and headquarters are approximately 120 miles southwest of the San Antonio airport just off Hwy 83 near Crystal City. These ranches employ long term game management involving selective harvest, feed programs and habitat improvement. Several good quality whitetail bucks (130 to 150 B&C gross score) have been available for harvest each year. In addition, a few real wallhanger bucks over 150 are also taken. Even larger bucks might be out there. A sure enough Boone & Crockett buck (171 B&C net) was found dead after the 2003 season. A 184 B&C nontypical was videoed every summer for three years before he disappeared. No hunter ever saw him during hunting season. His sheds are mounted on a cape in the game room. . In addition to the whitetails, there is also a large number of wild boar hogs and exotics (click here for price list), including axis deer, and many of these are darned nice deer! Several medal qualifying bucks have already been taken, and the rest of them just keep getting bigger. Many of these critters are in hard horns even during summer time. What a way to catch a hunting fix just when you need it most! . The accommodations are nice at the lodge. There are three private bungalows, plus additional buildings with 8 large bedrooms and a private bathroom for each bedroom. The lodge complex also offers an enclosed entertainment deck with big screen satellite TV, stereo, DVD player and game tables, and also a billiards room. Outside is a fire ring area for evening relaxing and story swapping, as well as an open patio and a covered patio. There is also a jacuzzi and heated swimming pool, lighted skeet range and rifle/pistol ranges. A stocked fishing pond is right next to the lodge. Being less than an hour from Old Mexico, many of our non-hunting patrons plan a shopping trip there while the hunters hunt. . After you harvest your game, there are great game cleaning facilities available for you to use, or you can pay us a small fee for taking care of it for you. We can even arrange processing into steaks, chops, roasts, ribs and ground meat in vacuum packs IF you shoot the animal early enough in your hunt, or want us to ship the meat later. Taxidermy can be arranged as well. . .

On All This Ranch's Hunts We understand that everybody misses on occasion, or makes a poor hit. Even we miss once in a blue moon, and I can't say that I've never lost a wounded animal. But, we expect our hunters to be ethical hunters, and that means practicing enough to know your firearm's limitations, and your own, then staying within those normal limitations. So, we give everyone their first confirmed miss on a trip free of charge, but additional misses are counted as a kill. This is because, most times, those misses wind up not being misses, and after a hunter leaves, we spot buzzards and find a dead animal that was supposedly "missed". We have to be compensated for those lost animals somehow, or charge more for everyone's hunts. Also, if there is any sign of a hit at all, like the animal goes down for a second, or there is the clear "whack" sound of a hit, or we find any hair, bone or body fluid, the animal shall be considered dead and the hunter charged for such. . |

These 6 day seminars (noon on first day to noon on the last) give intensive hands on training in the art and science of hunting and fishing. Students may be boys or girls, ages 12 - 17. . May 31 thru June 05 June 07 thru June 12 Past itineraries have included; .22 rimfire shooting and instruction, centerfire rifle shooting and instruction, shotgun shooting and instruction, blackpowder introduction, archery introduction, fishing instruction, discussion of pond management, trapping instruction, flint knapping and history of Texas indians, campfire cooking, survival techniques, basic first aid for the hunter, antler rattling techniques, waterfowl ID and hunting instruction, how to use turkey calls, plant ID, animal track ID, aging of whitetail deer, scoring of deer antlers, aging of wild turkeys, scoring of wild turkey, taxidermy preparation, and more! . Assuming good behavior; they also participate in daily hunting of hogs and exotics, or rabbits and varmints like coyotes, bobcats, badger and raccoons. . Hunter Education Certification for students still needing that is also included (additional paperwork, passing a test and demonstrating a very good attitude required). . We keep the kiddos pretty busy, but also allow some free time for swimming, watching "G" rated videos and getting acquainted with the other students. . |
