Texas Quail Hunting Also, Pheasant & Chukar Hunting |
|
Bird up! The anticipation builds as you ease up behind the dogs, rock solid on point in front of you. Muscles tighten, the gun quivers, and you ask yourself, "Is this going to be a bobwhite quail, or chukar partridge, or maybe the big cock pheasant you've been looking for all morning?" Now you're even with the dog and still no birds have broke. About that time you start to think that maybe the bird has moved on. You relax just a little, and turn your head to the guide for instructions. That's when they catch you off guard, as the air around you explodes with the whirring of wings and clucking of a half dozen escaping Chukar. The guide yells out, "Bird up!", and you try to regain your composure enough to snap off a couple of shots before they get completely out of range. Maybe this time you connect, maybe you don't, but it really doesn't matter, when you're hunting in Texas with us. There's plenty more birds! . Our upland bird hunting areas are well managed to produce a lot of native birds. Bobwhite quail can be found in good numbers. In fact, when the weather conditions are good for reproduction, the numbers can be downright astounding. AND, We also have excellent suppliers of flight conditioned birds for released bird hunts. AND, we use quail surrogators to get birds to six weeks old, then they grow up wild from that point. Like I said, the numbers can be astounding! With released birds, we can take Chukar and Pheasant in addition to the quail. Combined with our experienced guides and a kennel full of well trained bird dogs, a quality Texas hunting experience is assured. . And when the hunt is done for the day, you can relax at one of our comfortable, well equipped lodges (lodging is an added option).
The season on our released birds runs from the end of October to the end of March. Make your reservations now! . Click below to see; Sample Hunting Packages . |

.The
Lone Star State never stops amazing me with the quantity of game it can
produce when we get the rains at the right times. Irrigated grain fields
and feeders assure plenty of quail food on most of our properties. CRP
land, wind rows and cover strips give the birds lots of places to escape
predators. Pumped stock ponds assure them a drink of water every day. So,
even in a bad year we have good numbers of birds. But, last fall was one
of those years that you hope for every year. We had so many quail on opening
day that it was plumb silly. The first part of deer season you'd drive
out to the blind and jump covey after covey along the road, and 2 or 3
more families would come to the feeders while you watched for deer and
hog. This quail hunting season looks like it could be even better!
