Texas Parks & Wildlife biologists estimate feral hog population in Texas now nearly two million!

Known as Russian Boar, Wild Boar, Feral Hog or just plain Pigs, the wild swine in Texas are rapidly gaining popularity as a hunting target. The reasons are numerous. Number one; they're smart, so the hunting can be challenging! One scientific study says that hog are the second smartest animal behind only chimpanzees. Number two; you may take hog by any method, year around in Texas. That means; no need to wait for deer season to warm up the gun barrel. Number three; wild pork is excellent meat; lean, and flavorful! And, number four; hog hunting is FUN!

Texas hog hunting results. You do not want to be tracking one of these big hogs through Texas brush, especially at night. Look at those teeth and you have the first good reason why not. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND a head or neck shot to anchor these boar in their tracks. Magnum cartridges and deep penetrating bullets help, too. They are absolutely a necessity if you must body shoot a large boar hog. They have a cartilage shield under their chest skin that can be two inches thick or more!
